Hill Briefs: Coburn Running For Second Term
June 1, 2009
Senate Races. Sen. Tom Coburn, R-Okla., today announced he will seek re-election next year for a second term. He made the announcement at an event in Tulsa and on his campaign Web site in a video that states, “Only one leads the fight against government waste in Washington. Many times alone.” The video also notes that Coburn “singlehandedly blocked more spending bills than any other senator.” But Coburn, following in the footsteps of some other Republicans, also played up the fact that he “reached across the aisle” to work with President Obama to post government spending reports online.
