Many fellow D.O.s ask the question “Why is it so important I be politically involved?”
Elected officials directly impact our ability to care for our patients. We must be politically involved to protect our profession today, and for future generations of D.O.s.
Together we can help elect pro-physician candidates to Congress and ensure candidates recognize physicians as a force in elections. We will not sit idly by while Congress legislates our future. We will be vocal on issues and active in campaigns and elections around the country.
OPAC is the sole political action committee representing osteopathic physicians and students. I have been involved with OPAC since its foundation in 1979, and serve as its chairman. In this time OPAC has grown to be one of the top physician political action committees in the country. Now, we are ready to move to the next level.
OPAC is endorsing candidates for the first time in its history. We are educating candidates on issues that affect physicians and ensuring our membership is up to date on where their candidates stand on those key issues so they can make informed decisions at the ballot box. Most importantly, we will work to turn out the osteopathic physician vote on or before Election Day.
We cannot accomplish these goals without you. Every dollar or minute of your time contributed to OPAC and its efforts makes a difference. We can only succeed with the support of osteopathic physicians around the country.
Together we can achieve our goal of electing a Congress that represents us America’s osteopathic physicians and the patients we serve.
